Metropolitan Arts Council announced 10 artists chosen as winners in its Flat Out Under Pressure art-making event June 14.

Kicking off June 13, 130 local visual artists submitted works created during the 24-hour event for an opportunity to have their submissions featured on one of eight recycling bins on Main Street in downtown Greenville, as well as a chance to win between $300 and $1,000 in cash prizes.

The eight artists whose art will be featured on the recycling receptacles in 2026 are:


  • Marty Epp-Carter, second place, $900

  • Diane Kilgore-Condon, third place, $800

  • Jo Carol Mitchell-Rogers, fourth place, $700

  • Anne Nelson, first place, $1,000. She also won a one-week trip for two to stay in Villa Sant’ Andrea in Italy.

  • Mark Mulfinger, fifth place, $600

  • Nick Ring, sixth place, $500

  • Jenny Allen, seventh place, $400

  • Lois Ordway, eighth place, $300

Two participating artists were also chosen to win the event’s Exhibition Committee Award and each person received a check for $300. The recipients were Jenny Allen and Orlando Corona.
