Here’s a recap of Greer City Council’s July 8 meeting:
Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the expenditure of $4.1 million for a variety of equipment through a lease-purchase agreement.

The purchase includes vehicles and equipment for the police department and public works, turnout gear for the fire department, and electronics for various departments including computers and radio equipment.
The funding was approved in the current budget, which took effect July 1 with the start of the new fiscal year.
Approved: Rezoning on Mt. Vernon Circle
Council unanimously approved second and final reading of an ordinance changing the zoning classification of a property at 118 Mt. Vernon Circle from rural residential to suburban neighborhood.
The change to SN zoning reduces the required setbacks on the half-acre lot, which will allow the owner to build a slightly larger single-family residence than would have been possible under the property’s previous zoning.
