Felecia Greenlee draws art with a southern theme

Born in Philadelphia and raised in South Carolina, artist Felicia Greenlee draws from both urban energy and Southern roots to shape her creative voice. Her journey began at age 4, sparked by the artwork of Ernie Barnes on the 1970s sitcom Good Times. That early inspiration evolved into a lifelong purpose: creating art that reflects her identity and surroundings.

Felicia started with pencil and oil paint but eventually outgrew the flatness of paper and canvas. Today, wood is her medium of choice — offering a tactile, transformative quality that lets her cut, carve, stain and layer to build dimensional, emotionally charged works.

Each collage can take up to 400 hours to complete. Painting, staining, and drying add to the time, but Felicia says she doesn’t rush -- it’s about honoring the process, not pushing for profit.

Her art is often influenced by American themes and social events. She continues to work as a freelance textile designer while remaining active in the fine art space. Her work has been showcased in places like Greenville’s Sift Gallery, offering audiences a glimpse into her layered visual storytelling.
