Former Gaffney baseball standout and University of South Carolina alum Julian Wright will become the new coach for Gaffney girls basketball, according to a post by the school's program on its X account.

Last season, Wright served as the assistant to former coach Mark Huff, and the team finished 25-3, it’s best finish in over 10 seasons.
Huff led the team for four seasons before retiring on May 6. And prior to coaching the girls’ program, he led Gaffney boys basketball for 21 years, and won five state championships.
Gaffney is expected to return it’s star guard Shiriah Harris for her senior season. Harris averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds, eclipsed 1,000 career points, and was named the All-Upstate Player of the Year last season.
