Some Call Them "Angels"

Not everyone is called “Angel,” either in gist or in earnest.
But when you give many homeless souls sleeping bags and tents on frigid nights like these we’re now undergoing, who would hesitate to call you an angel of love?

Patricia “Meme” Jackson and her husband, Marcus Wayne-Thurman, organized this charitable event.
The happy outcome was that more than 30 homeless persons received food and drinks, bus passes, tents, and sleeping bags recently at Bea Thompson Park in Anderson.
Aside from material things, Jackson gave them something they don’t often get: hugs.
“I don't care what you look like, I don't care what your clothes look like, I don't look at you that way. I don't judge you because of what you have on but for your humanity.”
Jackson and Wayne-Thurman moved to South Carolina from Panama City, Fla., about seven years ago. Wayne Thurman accepted a job here as a chemical machine operator at BASF in Mauldin. The couple brought their desire to help others here, just as they had given to many in Florida, where they helped kids without school supplies, clothes, or toys.
In Anderson, they gave 50 meals weekly to the homeless.
