Funeral for Jesse Jackson

Cars parked near PUSH were moved to a nearby parking lot to make room for the visitation proceedings for Jesse Jackson. Car owners will not get a ticket and will not have to pay for towing, but they will have to walk a short distance to retrieve their vehicles.
Family and friends escorted the casket containing the remains of Jackson into PUSH headquarters.
Mourners could hear and see security helicopters hovering overhead as they made their way into the headquarters.
Rep. Wendell Gilliard announced that the funeral for Jesse Jackson will take place March 2 at the SC Statehouse.
In the meantime, Jackson’s body is lying at the PUSH headquarters in Chicago on Thursday and Friday for public viewing.
Stop 2: Columbia, SC (South Carolina Statehouse)
Date: Monday, March 2, 2026
Details: Lying in state at the Statehouse (1100 Gervais St.) from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for public viewing, following a private ceremony.
Stop 3: Washington, D.C.
Date: Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Details: A formal funeral service is scheduled for this date before the body returns to Chicago.
Additional Services
Final Service (Chicago): A "People's Celebration" at House of Hope on Friday, March 6, followed by a private service on Saturday, March 7.
