Rolls-Royce plant is coming to Aiken with 434 jobs
Rolls-Royce announced on July 16 that it will invest $75 million in its Aiken, South Carolina, engine plant for the production of the MTU Series 4000.

The investment will create 60 jobs and introduce in-country machining capabilities. The company will also invest $100 million in American facilities to support the growth of the data industry and the need for "resilient, U.S.-built power."
"Rolls-Royce’s expansion in Aiken County further positions South Carolina as a leader in advanced manufacturing. This investment and the 60 jobs it will bring represent a big win for the community, and we are proud of the success Rolls-Royce has found in our state,” said Gov. Henry McMaster in a news release.
How many full-time positions will be created at the Aiken facility?
The investment will create a total of 434 full-time positions at the facility.
What is the MTU Series 4000 engine?
Rolls-Royce's MTU Series 4000 engines power high-power mission-critical backup generators. The engines are built in Aiken and assembled into complete generator sets at the Rolls-Royce facility in Mankato, Minnesota, per the release.
How will the Aiken facility expand?
Phase 1: Grow existing manufacturing footprint by 37,000 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin in Q1 2026, with production expected to commence in July 2027.
Phase 2: An additional 22,000 square feet of manufacturing space may be added (60,000 square feet in total).
