Police shooting still under investitation

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The investigation continues into the police ambush that occurred Sunday at the Greenville Detention Center on McGee St.
The officer was seated in his patrol car when he was shot multiple times. The suspect fled in his car immediately following the shooting.

The Greenville County Coroner’s office identified the suspect as David William Lane, 42, and ruled his death a suicide.
The officer was transported to Prisma Health on Grove Road, where he was treated for his injuries. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home with his family.
Law enforcement officers have identified a suspect connected to the ambush. The Greenville
vehicle within its jurisdiction.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is conducting an investigation into the shooting. All questions should be directed to SLED.
Also helping in the investigation are the Greenville County Sheriff, SLED, SC Highway Patrol, the FBI, the U. S. Attorney, and the 13th Circuit Solicitor.
