U. S. 29 Church Street Corridor Fully Open to Vehicle Traffic
Church Street in downtown Greenville has been reopened to traffic for some time, but today was my first time really taking it in.

The $30 million completion is reassuring, showing that the city fathers are alert and responsive to local needs. Now the economic boost can continue its robust progress because downtown traffic jams have eased, say traffic experts.
Engineers say the objective was to ensure safety for the 26,000 to 38,000 motorists driving through downtown Greenville each day. Water drainage and overhead lighting have also been improved.

The project rehabilitated the bridge deck, painted steel girders, sealed joints, and repaired concrete spalls.
Now that Greenville is well situated on the national map, it can maintain its perch high on the list of towns to visit and live in, city planners say.
Onlookers say that staying ahead of the traffic congestion curve will remain the challenge for successive generations.
