Before integration, there were thousands of black schools across the South. Following the 1954 Supreme Court ruling that dismantled separate but equal schools for blacks and whites, black schools were abandoned and demolished.

One such neglected building barely survives in Fountain Inn. To restore and preserve that old Rosewood School, organizers set the meeting for February 27 at 6 pm. The public is invited to the Fountain Inn Museum at 102 Depot St, Fountain Inn.

Greenville laureate Glenis Redmond is the guest speaker. She is also among the event organizers.

Hear alumni tell riveting stories that cannot be made up.

These ladies have something to say. Listen to Geneva Brown, Jeanette Redmond, Genevieve Jamison, and Daisy Booker.

Clayton Peg Leg Bates attended this very school. Imagine the stories of other alumni large and small. Imagine how this well-educated vanguard surged forward, effecting positive change in all manner of enterprises.
