Greenville Tech has become a sleeping giant

Updated: Nov 17

Quietly, Greenville Technical College has swollen its student body to 12,000, with an army of professors and staff, says Dr. Julian Farrell, Director of Admissions & Enrollment Services.

Tarsha Brown greeted the students and welcomed them to an open house on Thursday.

Dr. Farrell got right to the point about what students say about their learning experience at Greenville Tech.

Students love graduating without debt. They describe the program as fast, Greenville Tech as a brilliant college choice, and it's affordable. Get ahead in your career. Some students already had an associate's degree, but wanted more skills to advance their careers. Students are excited about having a job waiting for them upon graduation.

Some students start at Greenville Tech and later transfer to a four-year program elsewhere.

Day or night classes are an attractive option for older students with families to support.

Students say it was not hard to transition into the job.  Teachers prepped me to get into the job seamlessly, they say.

Average day: students are actually doing X-rays in a real clinic in the new PRISMA building. We can envision where you want to go from here.

Learning at Greenville Tech is like taking a 2-year job interview.

Students learned to be on time and be a team player. Students are issued a limited license and begin working as student techs.

Students talked about what they wish they had known earlier: Greenville Tech has almost the same resources as much larger colleges.

The number of programs they offer exceeded my imagination. After finishing my associate's degree, I entered a BA program and stayed right here.

How do professors support students? They have available office hours, both in and outside of class, to connect you with other key players.

Professors do Zoom calls because many older students work while attending college, so time is of the essence.

Did you get what you expected here? I like Greenville Tech so much that I forgot about my four-year degree program elsewhere and stayed with the Greenville Tech program.

My instructors were focused on making me the best Tech I can be.
