Greenville Technical College received the inaugural Workforce Development Innovations Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers

The award recognizes organizations focused on training and educating a strong workforce pipeline for manufacturing. These organizations must operate state-of-the-art facilities, offer industry-aligned curricula and maintain strong industry partnerships.

Greenville Technical College’s School of Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation Technology offers classes to more than 600 credit and non-credit students annually. Programs educating electronic technicians, mechatronic technicians, and machinists are taught at the college’s Center for Manufacturing Innovation.

“We are thrilled to be the first recipient of the SME Workforce Development Innovations Award,” said Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “This honor is especially meaningful as it recognizes our commitment to meeting the hiring needs of employers by delivering industry-relevant education that means success for our graduates.”

The School of Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation Technology maintains strong job placement rates with:

  • 89% of graduates from the Automotive and Diesel Technology program find employment within six months

  • 93% of Advanced Manufacturing and CNC Machining students find employment after graduation.

Students can earn a Bachelor of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology, an Associate in Applied Science or a Certificate in Applied Science at the School of Advanced Manufacturing and Transportation Technology. Through industry partnerships, the school also offers experiential learning opportunities, including internships, apprenticeships and tech scholar programs.
