Freddie Owens Executed Friday

Columbia — Freddie Owens was the first person executed in South Carolina since 2011. He was executed Friday.

Owens, 46, a Greenville man was convicted for the murder of a grocery clerk Irene Graves in 1997. He died of lethal injection at the Broad River Correction Institute. He was the 44th person in the state to be executed since 1976.
