Prisma has announced the building of a new inpatient mental care hospital at 4906 Old Easley Bridge Road near Easley.

Private and public partners donated $1 million for this state-of-the-art facility, which nearly doubles the number of rooms of the Marshall Pickens Hospital, which inspired the new construction.
The new inpatient facility will embody a healing and holistic environment that includes enhanced spaces for adults, adolescents, and children.
As trustees of the Sargent Foundation, Dr. Bob and Theresa Wilson have focused for many years on supporting mental health and have sought to reemphasize its importance.
The Wilsons said in a statement that the hospital will feature elements of normalcy, play, and education woven into the hospital’s mosaic, which inspired the Wilsons to make their gift to name the Sargent-Wilson Wellness Center. The center will provide recreational, educational, and supportive space for patients and family members with team members, as well as serve as a hub for community groups.

The Wilsons said that they chose to make their gift public to shine a light on an often underserved area of health care and to inspire others to give, knowing that mental health issues are on the rise.
