At least six confirmed deaths have occurred in the Upstate during the two recent storms, including several due to hypothermia, and a 79-year-old man who died from a head injury after sliding on ice near his house, said the SC Department of Public Health.

Greenville officers have reported a spike in car crashes. Firefighters use chains on tires while responding to emergencies, but other motorists driving without chains in this snow are at great peril.
Authorities urge residents to stay at home.
