Westside football standouts Chamarryus Bomar and Armoni Weaver, top 25 high school football recruits in South Carolina, decommitted Tuesday night from Appalachian State on the eve of National Signing Day.

Their decisions were shared on social media and came after Appalachian State’s firing Monday of coach Shawn Clark. The Mountaineers were 5-6 this season and 40-24 in Clark’s six years.
“Due to coaching changes at Appalachian State,” Bomar wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “I will be decommitting and my recruitment is 100 percent open.”
Bomar and Weaver, both of whom play wide receiver and cornerback as well as kick returner, transferred together from Byrnes this season to defending Class AAAA state champion Westside. The Rams are 12-0 and have a home game at 7:30 p.m. Friday against South Pointe in the Upper State championship game of the SCHSL playoffs.
Bomar (5-foot-10, 175) is ranked as the No. 17 player in the state by 247Sports. He’s enjoyed a breakout season at receiver while catching passes from quarterback Cutter Woods, a South Carolina commit. Bomar has 41 receptions for 1,029 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense, he has three interceptions, four passes defended and three tackles for loss.
Bomar has offers from Boston College, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, Old Dominion Tulane UAB and Virginia Tech. His first offer came from Boston College two years ago.
