Roger Milligan used to be the sole billionaire in South Carolina, but since his death, others have stepped up. Here is a report.

The U.S. holds the record for the most billionaires in 2025, accounting for 902 in total.

Following right behind are China (516, including Hong Kong) and India (205).

There are also 247 more billionaires than there were last year, made up of entrepreneurs, investors, and heirs.

So how many billionaires are there in 2025? According to Forbes' World's Billionaires List, there are now 3,028.

"Not only are there more of them, but they're richer than ever, worth $16.1 trillion in total ― up nearly $2 trillion over 2024." said the publication.

Among those on Forbes' list are two South Carolina billionaires. Here's who they are, what they're worth, and why they're so rich.

No. 717: Robert Faith, Greystar

Bob Faith is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Greystar, a global real estate firm based in Charleston. The investment management platform, founded in 1933, manages and operates $320 billion in real estate across five continents. It also has over $78 billion of assets under its management. According to Forbes, Faith has a real time net worth of $5 billion as of April 9.

No. 1,573: Anita Zucker, InterTech Group

In 1982, chemicals manufacturer InterTech Group was founded by Jerry Zucker, who died of a brain tumor in 2008.

"Jerry Zucker, an immigrant from Israel, was a prolific inventor who was granted numerous patents." Forbes said.

His wife Anita Zucker is the current CEO of the company, based in Charleston. She is also a philanthropist who donated more than $75 million between 2013 and 2018 to causes such as education and health.

As of April 9, Anita Zucker's real time net worth is $2 billion.
