Tiffany White puts her heart into her work

As a seasoned branch manager of Greenville Federal Credit Union on Pelham Road, Tiffany White could delegate, monitor, and coordinate the workflow.

But you can see White going the extra mile, working as a teller, loan officer, customer service representative, and general ombudsman par excellence. She is there to do whatever it takes to reasonably keep customers happy, focused, and moving along.

The backstory

My wife and I were doing news interviews and photoshoots when we needed to do a banking transaction and some grocery shopping.

I suggested that we split the company and accomplish two different chores at the same time.  I would go to our credit union, and she would do the grocery shopping and meet back at the credit union.

Remembering a previous occasion when I needed a particular transaction performed, I begrudgingly pressed on.

To my surprise, White gathered all the pertinent information, keyed it into her PC, and made the transaction zippidee split, as children say.  All the while, she was amicably engaged in light conversation with a smile.  Banter has a role in the business world, also.

White's efficiency and professionalism prompted me to ask about her work history.

This is what she said:

White has been in banking for 15 years including two years as the branch manager at Greenville Federal Credit Union on Pelham Road. A Senica native, she has worked at Wells Fargo, Southern First Bank, and Upstate Federal Credit Union.

What exactly does a branch manager do?

She’s in charge of all bank operations. White hires and fires, trains, evaluates, teaches, monitors, inspires, and leads. All of that falls under her bailiwick.

What is White’s long-term career goal?

She’d loved to become a banking vice president. She gets my vote.  From where I sit, her goal is entirely reachable.

The next time you have a sour experience at your bank, you might mosey over and meet Tiffany White. She’s waiting for you now with a broad smile.
