The Running Rebels are Undefeated 23-0

The running rebels are undefeated this year. And they want to keep it that way.

Where Byrnes point guard Colton Fowler runs, the rest of the running rebels follow.

The Rebels are 23-0, including 11-0 in Region 2-AAAAA, as they head into a rematch with Dorman (18-4, 8-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Schofield Gymnasium. "In all my tenure, that was probably the most special shot I've seen as a coach," said Byrnes coach Layne Fowler, who has been leading the program since 2010.

It was the fourth quarter of a Tuesday night top-tier Class AAAAA dual between Byrnes and Dorman boys basketball.

Colton Fowler, the Rebels' sophomore point guard, dribbled upcourt so quickly that he lost his footing. But with three seconds left and Byrnes behind by two points, he rose for a 3-pointer that had every soul in Dorman Arena on the tips of their toes.

And Fowler drained it. Byrnes, 72-71.

That's the type of season Byrnes boys basketball is having. The Rebels are 23-0, including 11-0 in Region 2-AAAAA, as they head into a rematch with Dorman (18-4, 8-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Schofield Gymnasium.
