The Nicholtown Community Center (NCC) recently reopened its expanded 7,600-square-foot facility.  Officials from the city and state, including Chandra Dillard, state representative; Ken Gibson, City Councilman; Alan Mitchel, County Councilman; Rev. Calvin Hailstock, president of the neighborhood association; and Octavia Jones, NCC Director, were on hand for festivities, along with a host of supporters.

Center patrons were jubilant to get together with their friends again and fully engage in fun events.

Features include a walking trail, a new playground, a dedicated teen lounge, a fitness room, and an emergency standby generator. This makes NCC the first resilient hub provided by the city. Not an emergency shelter, the center welcomes residents during a power outage to a warm place to rechage electronic devices, get warm and drink hot coffee.
