Spartanburg's Spring Fling is Dead

City of Spartanburg leaders said on Tuesday that Spring Fling will not take place this year.

Mayor Jerome Rice said that logistics have changed over the years and city leaders are now looking at alternative events that make more sense.

That time slot has been filled with plenty of other events.

Spring Fling began in the late 1970s. It has grown over the years to include carnival rides, food vendors, and outdoor concert stages. In recent years, the weekend-long festival has taken up much of the city’s downtown space.

But it now makes sense to move on with other options, which city leaders figure out soon and will make timely announcements, Rice said.
