GREENVILLE, S.C. —
The Greenville Humane Society will “revolutionize animal care” in the Upstate. So they announced Tuesday.

GHS said it has acquired land along the Swamp Rabbit Trail for a project dubbed "Love is a Four Legged Word."

The project includes a new facility at 300 Airport Rd., which will have a 9,260 square foot public spay and neuter clinic, increasing surgical capacity by 50 percent.
It also includes a 7,950 square foot multipurpose space for education, training, and community events, including:

Public dog training classes
Humane education programs
Birthday party venues
Community meeting spaces
Flexible areas for fundraising events
Pet remembrance garden
GHS says there will also be additional space to house 100 more animals, which the society says could

save thousands of animals each year.
"This expansion is a direct response to the surging demand for affordable pet care and education in our community," said Rachel Delport, CEO of the Greenville Humane Society. "By tackling pet overpopulation and veterinary shortages head-on, we're ensuring that more animals can find loving homes and be pets for life. We cannot continue to place band aids on reoccurring issues – we must find sustainable solutions. That’s exactly what we’ve set out to do with this expansion."
Time and again, Greenville has shown that our mission matters," Greenville Humane Society Board Chair, Cindy Crick added. "We're calling on our community to rise to this challenge once more and help us create a lasting impact for animals in need."
GHS says it hopes to raise $8.5 million to bring this vision to life.
