Greenville Tech ranks high in the state and nation

The local technical college is ranked first in South Carolina and is listed among the top ten community colleges in the nation. In addition, Greenville Technical College achieved a five-star rating. Newsweek and Statista Inc. compiled the annual list highlighting colleges with online degrees using a survey of over 10,000 online learners. 

Newsweek ranked Greenville Technical College No. 43 out of the 250 colleges on its 2025 America’s Top Online Colleges list.

Greenville Technical College redesigned its online courses to better meet students’ needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The college first made Newsweek’s list in 2023.

Larry Miller, the college’s vice president of Learning and Workforce Development, said he is very proud of Greenville Technical College going from unranked in online education to second place and then to first in the state two years in a row. 

“I greatly appreciate our faculty and the collaborative spirit that made this win possible. But we’re not done yet,” Miller said. “Our belief in continuous improvement will drive us to further enhance online courses so that we continue to move the needle on student outcomes.”
