USA TODAY named its Restaurants of the Year. This Texas and Mexican cuisine, began as a pop-up restaurant in 2019 and five years later has become a must-taste, cultural cuisine staple in both the West Greenville and Midtown areas.

The envelope please. And the winner is COMAL 864 Midtown at 219 W. Antrim Dr Suite D Greenville, SC.
Greenville has a hot new restaurant in a Tex-Mex fusion of flavors that excite the palate, nose and stomach in a grand collision of taste, taking recreational eating to new heights.
Because of its uniqueness, character, and homage to Tex-Mex cooking, it's made national news. According to USA TODAY's 2025 Restaurant of the Year list, the local powerhouse is one of the top 44 places to eat in America.
"To be chosen as part of the USA Today Restaurant of the Year 2025, it's a huge honor," said Dayna Lee-Márquez, owner of Comal 864. "I represent women, Latinas, and people on the fringe; there are people with far more experience than I have, so to be recognized, it's a reminder that anything is possible if you work hard enough to achieve a goal.”
We took our camera, tastebuds, and hardy appetite, and took to the road. This is what we discovered.
My wife and I enjoyed it, but we were far from alone.
Let the faces of these happy diners speak to you about their gastronomical experience.
