GE Brings 600 Jobs to Greenville

Global energy producer GE Vernova announced on Wednesday a $600 million investment into nationwide manufacturing improvements, and Greenville is set to receive a portion of that contribution.

Greenville will add around 650 jobs and $160 million into the facility at 300 Garlington Road as part of its nationwide investment, according to Sara Cobb, senior communications manager at GE Vernova.

“These investments will have a significant impact on the Upstate today and for years to come," said Shane Long, supply chain leader at GE Vernova. "Beyond the immediate job additions and capacity expansion, this investment will allow Greenville to maintain and strengthen its position as the world’s center of gas turbine manufacturing.”

Their new investment initiative aims to drive U.S. energy affordability, security, resilience, and competitiveness across the country and to ready the American manufacturing scope to support global energy needs, which are forecasted to double.

GE Vernova employs more than 2,500 workers in South Carolina and has primarily produced gas turbines for various markets worldwide since 1968.

In 2024, Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, announced a plan to increase the global capacity of gas turbines by more than 25 percent in order to meet international demand. January's announcement adds to the $35 million the company invested in the Greenville facility last year.

GE Vernova is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with approximately 75,000 employees across 100+ countries worldwide.
