Fifteen Girls Seek State Championship

Boiling Springs junior Chloe Osteen and Gaffney senior Serenity State won high school girls wrestling Upper State championships Saturday at Boiling Springs.

Osteen won the 112-pound division and helped host team finish third in the 54-team, all-classifications event. State won the 142-pound division as Gaffney finished eighth.
The state championships will be held Feb. 8 at Dreher High School, with the boys championships taking place Feb. 14-15 in Florence.
Osteen finished third last season in the 105 division. State was runner up at 135.
Rock Hill won the Upper State team championship with 145 points, followed respectively by Greenwood with 131.5 and Boiling Springs with 129.5. Among the other Upstate schools, Woodruff was 12th, Mauldin 13th, Byrnes 14th and Chesnee 16th.
Top four finishers in each weight division at Upper State will compete at state. Here are the Upstate’s 15 qualifiers:
