Don't let another entrepreneur's pedigree make you balk at launching your own business

Just because Kevin Williams's business plans seem to fall into place doesn’t mean you have no chance of starting a successful business.

Each tub must stand on its own bottom. So you must put faith in your own business plan, not allowing the ideal circumstances of others to dampen your zeal to start a business.

Kevin’s father is a computer programmer. His mother taught homeschoolers. Kevin dropped out of political science at Furman University. He then interned for South Carolina Senator Tim Scott.

Later, Kevin worked at a coffee shop and befriended the owner, who planned to retire and spend more time with his children.

The timing for Kevin was perfect. He learned the business side of running a coffee shop, the supply chain, and other vital details. He made an offer, and it was accepted.

The coffee shop inside a bank went so well that Kevin now has two locations and is eyeing others. Some get it right the first time, avoiding the customary struggles of many other new entrepreneurs.
