The political race is on for the Greer District 2 seat. The incumbent Kariuam Booker will finish his first term in December.

His opponent, Tahitsha Pearson, says she brings experience as a PTA leader, a mom, and a community activist.

Although the Ballotpedia webpage acknowledges that Pearson is a candidate for the District 2 Seat, it says that she has not yet completed the 2025 Candidate Connection survey to introduce herself to the public.

She did speak to a local newspaper about her candidacy. We reached out to her, but did not get a response.

On the other hand, incumbent Karuiam Booker is a Clemson engineering graduate and an assistant district inspection engineer for the SCDOT, and he has recently started his own engineering firm.

Booker has not been bashful about his candidacy. Saturday, he hosted a fish fry to mingle with the public and express his views and field questions.

Booker had listed his priorities as economic growth, improvements in the infrastructure, job creation, more affordable housing, and increasing recreation opportunities.

He lists among his accomplishments working with his colleagues to upgrade basketball courts, beautifying parks, providing affordable housing, and upgrading the Needmore Community.

Booker added that the city has invested more than $50,000 into micro-grants for small businesses.
