Showmanship exudes from Ben Ashmore, guitarist for the famous band the Carolina Players.
Ashmore has been playing a mean guitar since he was about 7 years old. He graduated from the acoustic to the electric guitar when he started playing lead guitar with various bands.
He worked his way around the music Southern scene, playing with the likes of Mack Arnold and others.
Musicians have to sit down and eat. So I ran into him at S&S Cafeteria, located at the corner of N. Pleasantburg and E. North Street, on Sunday afternoon.
Making a career out of his music, Ashmore said he seldom worked a day job. Music is his life.
He was amiable and engaging at 79, driving his 1990 Cadillac, still in good condition. You never know who you might bump into in Greenville.
