BWM affiliate in Greer is laying off 99 workers

Ninety-nine workers at the BMW Manufacturing plant in Greer will lose their jobs on June 28, according to the South Carolina Department of Education and Workforce.
Univar Solutions, an Illinois-based chemicals distributor and waste management firm with operations in Spartanburg County, will lay off these workers.
"Univar Solutions will no longer provide onsite waste management services at the BMW manufacturing facility in Greer, South Carolina," said Dwayne Roark, Univar's vice-president for marketing and communications.
Shanelle Holmes of the SC Department of Workforce said that they are working with laid-off workers, offering additional education and on-the-job training. Holmes said there are plenty of other jobs in the Palmetto State.
