While still reeling from Helene, we do well to prepare better for the next round of disasters. See trouble and brace yourself for it.

Prepare mentally


Set your mind in gear.  Disasters do occur in Greenville.  Take your head out of the sand. Learn about the disasters that can happen in Greenville. Floods, chemical explosions, falling trees, fires, strong winds, torrential rains, and more.


How prepare?


Gas camper stoves, batteries, 3 gallons of water per person in reserve, canned foods, paper goods, phone and charters, complete a survival kit.


Keep emergency phone numbers.




Keep non perishable, ready-to-eat foods. Blankets, change of warm clothes, sturdy shoes, flashlight, radio (battery or windup) spare batteries, first-aid kit, whistle for help, eating utensils, can opener, pocket tool set, and waterproof matches.


Seek all the government help available. FEMA offers help for designated areas including Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson in the wake of Helene.
