The Greenville County Library System purchased the former Bi-Lo grocery store for $6.7 million some time ago. The new location at East North Street and Howell Road has been identified as an expanded library.

Now the remodeling of the 56,000-square-foot Library Branch is in the contracting and design phases. Once construction timelines and permits are ratified and the architectural design and engineering work are approved by the county, renovation can start.
Passersby have recently seen chain-linked fencing erected at the entrance of the building at 3715 E. North St.
The Pelham Road Branch, constructed in 1990, is the oldest branch in the system. It is too small to accommodate the vastly increased number of patrons.
