A new book outlines the rich history of innovative blacks of Greer

A new book titled "Black History of Greer, South Carolina” has hit the market. Written by collaborators Francena Foster, Robert Gregory, and Calvin Williams, the book chronicles the rich history of leading black Greer citizens throughout the ages.


Read about Albert Freeman, Sr. and his famous BBQ. Dr. Anthony Mathis was a podiatrist. Businesswoman Barbara Irby Henderson ran Barbara’s Beauty-Rama until she died in 2015.

Joe Byrd Broadus had a knack for repairing things, became highly educated, and opened an auto repair shop and dealership on 409 Sunnyside Drive.
