The action-packed event features the presentation of scholarships and mentorship recognition, as well as a baseball game, starting at 5:30 PM, all in honor of the trailblazing baseball star Jackie Robinson, the first black player admitted into the Baseball Major Leagues.

Tim Hall, president of 100BMOUSC, will be present to spearhead the event with other organizers.
See which local personality will throw the first pitch.
Hall said that baseball has fallen out of favor with many in the black community, but he wants to generate new interest in the sport, especially since we have such a pristine ballpark as Mayberry.
Hall and other community leaders, like John Whiteside, call on parents to send their children to events like this one so they can benefit to the full from team sports.
Hall said 100BMOUSC is eager to help fund equipment, training at baseball camps, and league organization.

Former outfielder Curtis Granderson is also raising funds for gloves and other baseball equipment for kids to start a league and attend camps at Mayberry Park, according to his social media page.
Granderson is president of The Players Alliance (TPA), a group of former Black MLB players. TPA boasts of more than 100 members, providing equipment, field access, and mentoring for young players.
The consensus among community leaders is clear: the stage is set. It is now up to parents to get their children involved in baseball.
